As an ESRC award holder you are expected to make the research data that result from your award available for secondary scientific research. This is specified in the ESRC Research data policy.
Research data are offered for archiving to the ESRC Data Store within three months of the end of the grant.
ESRC Research Centres often manage multiple datasets at different stages of the research process. You can use our data inventory template to keep track of your centre's data assets and to coordinate future data deposits. Centres should get in touch when ready to deposit a collection of data.
ESRC award holders offer their data for archiving by creating a metadata record for their research project and uploading data and documentation files, following these steps.
1. Log in to ESRC Data Store
when you log in for the first time you are asked to register with ESRC Data Store by providing your name, email address and a username - use your institutional username or create a new one; and to accept the terms and conditions
2. Generate a new project using your ESRC award number
3. Prepare your data and documentation files
4. Upload data files and documentation files
5. Send your data deposit for review
