Home Office

The Home Office provides research and publishes statistics on Home Office responsibilities such as crime, counter-terrorism, the justice system and immigration. Ministers and policy-makers then use these research findings and statistics to inform policy development and operational activity  to tackle crime.

The UK Data Service acquires micro data from surveys sponsored by the Home Office including:

  • Crime Survey for England and Wales, 1982-
  • Commercial Victimisation Survey, 2002 
  • Survey of New Refugees, 2005-2009
  • Youth Lifestyles Survey, 1998-1999
  • Offenders Index Cohort Data, 1953-1997 
  • Young People and Crime Survey, 1992-1993
