The annual Health Studies User Conference is a one-day conference on 30 June and is free to attend. It is organised by the UK Data Service in collaboration with UCL and NatCen Social Research.
Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the 2020 Health Studies User Conference will be held online, replacing the usual in-person conference.
Attendees will hear updates from the data producers of key UK social surveys (cross-sectional and longitudinal studies) with health-related content, such as:
  • Health Survey for England
  • Opinions and Lifestyle Survey
  • Birth Cohort Studies
  • Understanding Society
  • English Longitudinal Study of Ageing
  • and more…..
The presentations from data producers will include updates on the collection of COVID-19 data, among other things.
NHS-Digital will give a presentation with the latest news on access to the health surveys they commission.
There will also be presentations from researchers based on analyses of these data.
This year the conference includes parallel break-out sessions on:
  • COVID-19 - opportunities and challenges for the health surveys
  • Data linkage - opportunities and challenges for the health surveys
  • Longitudinal studies
Each group will involve a verbal discussion among attendees. The discussion will be led by a facilitator. A series of questions will be provided to structure the discussion.
