Vacancy: Senior Software Developer, UK Data Archive

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Software Developer to be part of a small team that is responsible for the design and implementation of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) components, plus the maintenance and migration to the SOA of legacy databases.

The Role and Duties

Duties will include design, implementation, quality assurance and maintenance of web services, SQL-based data storage components and NoSQL-based data storage components. In addition you will be involved in the creation and maintenance of programming specifications and other technical documentation, and contributing to upskilling external audiences in a range of technical best practices for web services and data storage and retrieval.

Qualifications and Skills

The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) in a computing or related subject, or equivalent relevant experience.

We are looking for an individual who has good interpersonal and communication skills and is able to quickly adopt and use new tools, technologies and ways of working.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Designing, implementing and maintaining RESTful web services
  • Using ASP.NET C#
  • Using a Continuous Integration and Testing approach for software development
  • Developing utility scripts in a production environment

Owing to the nature of the work in the UK Data Archive, applicants who are offered employment will be subject to a vetting procedure before the appointment is confirmed.

Salary: £32,548 – £38,832 per annum
